HYBRID HOME ENERGY SYSTEMS

Power from Heat.
Day or Night.

Hybrid Home Energy Systems is developing the Maximum Delivery Engine (MDE), a patented external-combustion engine architecture designed to convert heat into electricity and useful heat.

THE IDEA

A Different Approach to Distributed Energy

The MDE is a patented external-combustion engine architecture for distributed energy systems.

The engine is intended to produce mechanical power to drive a generator. Cooling-system heat may also be recovered for domestic hot water or space heating where useful.

CURRENT ENGINEERING

Analysis before physical validation.

HHES is developing MDE systems across multiple scales and heat-source configurations. Analytical and computational engineering precedes physical prototype fabrication and instrumented testing.

PROPOSED ENERGY SYSTEMS

Three Ways to Use the MDE

Separating the external heat source from the engine creates different proposed system configurations. Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems would supply electricity and useful recovered heat; a power-focused system would emphasize electricity generation.

CHP — Solar + Combusted Fuel

Concentrated solar thermal heat when available, with combusted-fuel heat available when needed.

CHP — Combusted Fuel

A fuel-fired heat source would supply dispatchable thermal input without requiring a solar concentrator.

Power — Combusted Fuel

Electricity generation from an external fuel-fired heat source, where useful heat recovery is not the primary objective.

These are development-stage concepts, not commercially available or validated systems. Third-party battery/inverter integration would be considered where appropriate.

DEVELOPMENT FAMILY

An architecture across multiple scales.

HHES is developing the Maximum Delivery architecture for mobile and off-grid power, larger residential and small-business systems, and compact educational and research applications.
